Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will take part in the third ministerial conference of Afghanistan's neighbors (Russia, China, Iran, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan), which will be held in China on March 31, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"The mentioned meeting will provide a good opportunity to discuss issues of coordination of regional efforts on the humanitarian and socio-economic track, assistance to Afghanistan, as well as to reconcile approaches to counter the threats of the spread of terrorism and drug trafficking, which come from the Afghan territory," Zakharova said.

"On the margins of the event is planned to hold a dialogue between the foreign ministers of Afghanistan's neighbors with the delegation of the Taliban (Taliban movement is banned in Russia - TASS), as well as another meeting of the expanded "troika" on Afghanistan at the level of special representatives - it is about Russia, China, USA and Pakistan," added the foreign ministry official.
