Lavrov to visit Erbil as part of his trip to Iraq

During his visit to Iraq, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov intends to go to Erbil, he told reporters.

 

 


"I have an invitation from my counterpart, the Iraqi Foreign Minister. We agreed on this visit to be before the end of this year. Now we are finalizing specific dates. As part of this visit, it is planned to go to Erbil, Iraqi Kurdistan", -  the head of the Russian diplomacy noted, in particular.

 

 


Lavrov also stressed that Iraq is an important partner of Moscow and one of the key players in the region.

 

 


"Iraq has an important role to play in the efforts we are making to start a serious comprehensive conversation on security in the Middle East and North Africa. Our bilateral cooperation with Iraq is traditionally very fruitful. The economic, humanitarian, educational agendas - all these are important to discuss during our negotiations, " the Foreign Minister said.
