Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will pay a visit to the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar from March 8 to 12, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.

"Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit the United Arab Emirates, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar from March 8 to 12," the diplomat said.

"Meetings and negotiations with the leaders of these countries and the heads of their foreign ministries are envisaged. It is planned to discuss in detail the whole range of Russia's multifaceted relations with the mentioned friendly countries and to outline the way of their further progressive development," Zakharova added.

According to her, the main reference point in this work remains the relevant agreements that were previously reached at the highest level. "Considerable attention will be paid to the tasks of expanding business cooperation, agreeing on new promising projects and intensifying relevant efforts through bilateral intergovernmental commissions on trade, economic and technical cooperation," the diplomat added.

She said that the visits are also expected to consider further coordination on the situation in the global hydrocarbon market, as well as cooperation in combating the spread of coronavirus on the basis of Russian advanced developments.

"There will be an in-depth exchange of views on topical aspects of the Middle East agenda, with a focus on the need to resolve the ongoing conflicts in the region through negotiations, based on the legitimate interests and concerns of all parties involved. From this angle, we mean to analyze the prospects for long-term resolution of the crisis situations in Syria, Libya, Yemen, the Persian Gulf zone and the Arab-Israeli settlement," the official concluded.
