A number of countries expressed their readiness to work with Russian concept on the Persian Gulf security. However, a common solution has not yet been worked out. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said about this during his speech at the Primakov Readings in Moscow.

Russia proposed to develop such concept "about 17-18 years ago", as Sergey Lavrov noted. Its essence was to ensure security in the Persian Gulf through the establishment of a dialogue between the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf (GСС) and Iran.

Russia has discussed the concept of Persian Gulf security with the Cooperation Council of the Arab States of the Persian Gulf several times. According to Lavrov, there are member-countries in this Council that are willing to work on it, but have not yet developed a common position.
