Lavrov with Vietnam's Foreign Minister discussed situation in Syria and Libya

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov with his Vietnamese counterpart Pham Binh Minh discussed the interaction of the two countries in the UN Security Council, as well as the situation in Syria, Libya and around the Iranian nuclear program by telephone, reads the Russian MFA message.


"The parties focused on the interaction of our countries in the UN Security Council. The most pressing issues on the agenda, including the situation in Syria, Libya and around the Iranian nuclear program, were discussed in detail. The prospects of forming a post-peace presence of the UN in Sudan and extending the Security Council's sanctions regime against South Sudan are considered, " the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.


The heads of diplomacy of the two countries also confirmed the mutual approaches of Moscow and Hanoi to key international issues.
"The parties expressed mutual intent to further deepen bilateral cooperation, based on the UN Charter and other norms of international law," the Ministry added.


In addition, the Ministers highly appreciated the state of bilateral relations, emphasizing the mutual commitment of Russia and Vietnam to consistently deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership. The parties also discussed the further development of cooperation between Russia and ASEAN and the schedule of contacts for the current year.
