Leaders of Russia, Germany and France discuss Syria and Libya

Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron and Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany Angela Merkel.


According to the press service of the Kremlin, the leaders particularly focused on the situation in Idlib.


Putin highlighted the importance of taking efficient measures to neutralize the terrorist threat while observing the principles of sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria

 

Macron and Merkel expressed readiness to contribute to reducing tensions in Idlib.


The parties also emphasized the importance of preventing humanitarian consequences for the civilian population.

 

As for Libya, the leaders of the three countries also supported fully observing the ceasefire and resuming the political dialogue in line with the decisions of the Berlin Conference on Libya.
