Leaders of the CSTO member states will discuss regional and international security

Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Bishkek to take part in the meeting of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), which is held today.


The main topic of discussion will be regional and international security. In particular, the head of states will focus on fortifying the Tajik-Afghan border, cooperation with the UN on the implementation of the Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy and coordination of the CSTO countries’ foreign policy activities.


They will also discuss the development of the CSTO military potential, improvement of mechanisms to counter challenges and threats, including in the field of information security, and the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Victory. In total, the summit’s agenda lists 17 questions.


The meeting will be chaired by President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov.


Apart from Putin and Jeenbekov, the meeting will be attended by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, etc.
