The role of a mediator in resolving disputed issues between Lebanon and Israel over borders and oil and gas fields could be assumed by Russia. This was in an interview for Russian journalists, the Lebanese President Michel Aoun said.
«There is nothing forbids it to do this», he noted, in particular, when answering the question of whether Lebanon plans to call on Russia to act as a mediator in the settlement with Israel. Earlier, the official representative of the Moscow Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov said that on March 26th, Moscow will host a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Lebanon’s head Michel Aoun.
