Commander of the security forces of the Libyan National Army Khalifa Haftar and Libyan Minister of Emergency Situations Abdel Basit visited the Russian Emergencies Ministry camp in the flood-affected city of Derna. During their visit, they expressed gratitude to the Russian rescuers for their assistance. This information was reported by the press service of the Russian Emergencies Ministry to TASS.
"Russian rescuers are providing significant assistance, and we can witness their dedicated efforts firsthand. We are deeply thankful for their support, and we hope that with their help, we can save many lives," Abdel Basit expressed his gratitude during the visit. The focus of their attention was the airmobile hospital operated by the Russian Emergencies Ministry, where local residents are receiving essential medical care and assistance from the ministry's doctors.
Previously, EMERCOM had reported that the medical staff at the airmobile hospital operated by the Russian EMERCOM's "Tsentrospas" unit in Libya had treated 35 individuals, including three children, who were severely affected by the flooding. Alongside the hospital, Russian rescue teams are actively engaged in operations within Libya. Over the course of one day, they surveyed an area spanning more than 3 square kilometers and 10 kilometers of coastline in the disaster-stricken area. During these operations, they recovered the remains of five individuals from beneath the debris and conducted examinations of 75 locations in their search for survivors trapped in the rubble.
