President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that he and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin had a full understanding of the situation in the Republic.
"<...> I warned the Russian President about the situation in Belarus. We have a full understanding, we have a corresponding agreement within the framework of the CSTO and the Union state," Lukashenko said on Friday, visiting the Dzerzhinskiy agricultural complex near Minsk, BelTA reports.
At the same time, Lukashenko stressed: "The Belarusian problem is no less important for Russia today than for Belarus."
"Russia is attacked first of all. But they want to crush us. It won't work! We will fight back, " he said.
Lukashenko accused the United States and Europe of organizing riots in Belarus
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has accused the United States and Europe of organizing unrest in the country. This was reported by the BelTA news agency on Friday.
"The US plans all this and directs it, while the Europeans play along. Said so - will do so. A special center has been created near Warsaw. We control it, we know what it does. The tracks began to clank. You see, when there is unrest nearby and tanks start moving and planes start flying, it is no accident," Lukashenko said.
He added that Western countries were trying to use Belarus against Russia. "They were preparing this mess for us. And Russia was afraid of losing us. The West has somehow decided to pull us up, of course, as we see now, against Russia. Now they want to establish this Baltic-Black sea corridor, a sanitary cordon - the three Baltic republics, we and Ukraine. We are one link left here," he said during a visit to the agricultural plant "Dzerzhinskiy".
Lukashenko added that several centers of forces were operating against the country, where "governments in exile have settled". "The Coordinating Council (of the opposition-ed.) is a beautiful name. I think there are five governments in exile abroad today, " he said.
Peskov said that Russia was ready to contribute to the settlement in Belarus
Moscow is ready to do everything possible for a settlement in Belarus, if the Republic's leadership wants it. This was stated on Friday by the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov.
"If the Belarusian leadership wants it, then, of course, the Russian side is ready to do everything possible to help resolve the situation in Belarus," he said, answering a question about whether Russia is ready to provide mediation services between the Belarusian authorities and the opposition.
Initiation of criminal cases
The Russian side will not assess the initiation of criminal cases in Belarus, this is a sovereign matter of the Republic, Peskov said.
"We do not want to interfere in any way and give any assessment of the reasons why certain cases are initiated in Belarus. This is an absolutely sovereign matter for Belarus," he said, responding to a request to comment on the criminal case initiated by the Prosecutor General's office of Belarus after the creation of the Coordinating Council of the opposition under the article on calls to seize power.
