Videos captured demonstrators shouting at Netanyahu and his accompanying ministers, “Get out, we don't want to see you! You are a murderer, you are responsible for their deaths!” According to Naharnet, the protest disrupted the condolence ceremony. Similar anti-government rallies occurred in the Golan during the victims' funerals.
The tragedy occurred on July 27, when 12 teenagers were killed by a rocket that struck a sports field in Majdal Shams. Dmitry Gendelman, an adviser to the Israeli Prime Minister's office, blamed Hezbollah for the attack, stating Israel’s response would be "very tough."
In contrast, Hezbollah informed the UN Interim Force in Lebanon that the casualties resulted from an Israeli anti-missile. Acting Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib called for an international investigation to clarify the incident's circumstances.
Lebanese Progressive Socialist Party Chairman Walid Jumblat, representing the Druze Mountaineer community, told Al Jazeera that Israeli claims about the attack being carried out by Islamic resistance fighters were false. He warned of a “dangerous Israeli plot to foment strife in the Middle East.”
