Mali opposes sanctions against other countries and will not support them, said Foreign Minister of Mali Abdoulaye Diop on Tuesday following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"Mali is against any sanctions. We have been fighting against sanctions here since January 14, 2022. More than 4,000 Malians took to the streets to say no to imposed sanctions. Nor will we support sanctions imposed on other countries," he said.
The Malian foreign minister also believes that the international community must change its approach to the issue of sanctions, "because sanctions can't solve anything." "We need to sit down at the negotiating table, engage in dialogue and find solutions, particularly to international issues," he added.
