Coup d'etat in Sudan, the President is arrested

Information about the arrest of representatives of the country’s leadership, including the President Omar al-Bashir, comes from Khartoum. According to the TV channel Al-Hadath, a coup d'etat was committed by the army.

 


Now there are still thousands of people on the streets of Khartoum, the bulk - at the headquarters of the high command of the army.

 


On the streets of the capital additional units of the army and armoured vehicles are also placed, while police has disappeared from the streets. Khartoum International Airport is closed.

 


According to TASS, the Military Council of Sudan, under the leadership of the country’s first vice-president, Defense Minister Awad bin Auf, is preparing to take power in the country for a year.

 


It is expected that the country’s army will make an official statement on state television and radio in the near future.
