Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko expects successful completion of negotiations on the production of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in Bahrain, which will provide the kingdom with enough doses to vaccinate and revaccinate the population.
"Russia has offered Bahrain not only the vaccines themselves, but also the opportunity to transfer technology, the ability to produce this vaccine [Sputnik-V], to localize it in Bahrain. Negotiations are going on right now, and I hope they will be successful. Then Bahrain will not only be able to produce enough vaccines to vaccinate and revaccinate the population, but also to export this safe and effective vaccine to other countries," said the Speaker at a meeting of the advisory council at the National Assembly of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
According to her, economic recovery today depends largely on vaccinating the population and gaining national immunity. "The people of Bahrain are showing a decent example, which allowed your country to be in the lead in terms of vaccination coverage," Matviyenko said. She noted the role of Russia, which was the first in the world to register a vaccine against coronavirus, and Bahrain "appreciated the effectiveness and safety of Russian scientific development" by registering and authorizing the use of Sputnik V and Sputnik Light to vaccinate the country's population.
The Speaker of the Upper House of Parliament added that Russia is ready to further develop cooperation with Bahrain in this area.
