29 July 2021

Russia vividly demonstrates the huge potential of living together in peace and harmony of different religions and cultures and is interested in closer cooperation with the countries of the Islamic world. This is what Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said in her video message to the participants of the XII International Economic Summit "Russia - the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021".

"The Russian Federation is interested in further deepening cooperation with the states of the Islamic world. Through its historical experience and daily practice, our country clearly demonstrates the huge creative potential of living together in peace and harmony, close contacts between representatives of different nationalities, religions and cultures",  said the Speaker of the Russian Federation Council.

She stressed that she welcomed the approaches, on which the work of the summit is traditionally based, namely, "its focus on building a system of international economic relations, free from unfair competition, political, sanctions and other pressures. "Today it is clear that only by joint efforts can we overcome the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The Kazan Forum declares this in full voice," Matvienko added.

The senator noted that discussions on the most topical issues concerning Russia's relations with the Muslim world are taking place at the summit: Islamic finance and development of Russian business, expansion of Russia's ties with Islamic countries in implementing joint investment projects, ethical business as a response to the challenges of time. "I am sure it will not be limited to a discussion. All these topics and new ideas will be developed", said the Speaker of the Upper Chamber of the Parliament.

She wished the participants of the summit success in establishing business contacts and strengthening atmosphere of trust, "which is the guarantee of true partnership".
