Matviyenko: Agreements Between Russian and Uzbek Presidents Quickly Turn into Action

07 April

Decisions made by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev don’t just stay on paper — they’re promptly turned into action for the benefit of both nations. That’s the message Valentina Matviyenko, speaker of Russia’s Federation Council, delivered to journalists during the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

“What really stands out is how quickly everything our presidents agree on gets implemented. These aren’t just declarations or symbolic memorandums — these are real decisions that get carried out right away in the interests of both the Russian and Uzbek peoples,” she said.

Matviyenko emphasized that Russia and Uzbekistan are true partners who respect and prioritize each other’s interests. She highlighted that 155 companies with Russian capital are already operating in Uzbekistan, and noted the launch of several high-tech joint ventures, including the development of a small-scale nuclear power plant.

She also pointed out that trade volumes between the two countries are steadily increasing, with the leaders setting a target of reaching $30 billion in bilateral trade by 2030. “Both presidents are fully engaged and closely monitor every aspect of our cooperation,” she added.
