Russia greatly appreciates that the friendly Islamic countries have shown themselves to be reliable partners in difficult circumstances. Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko said this on Thursday in a video address during the opening of the XIV International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World: KazanForum".
"In the difficult conditions of the formation of a new multipolar world order, the friendly Islamic countries have shown themselves as reliable partners of Russia. We highly appreciate it. Russia and Muslim states, countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation are united by an open, honest position in international affairs, commitment to the letter and spirit of international law, the desire to see a fair world", said the speaker of the Federation Council.
In her opinion, the new system of world economic relations should be built on the principles of true partnership, respect for the civilizational foundations of states, taking into account traditional values. "Traditional values are the basis, which allows economic, technological and industrial achievements to be directed to the real progress for the benefit of man and mankind", noted Matviyenko.
The chairwoman of the Federation Council said the forum has become a recognized authoritative platform that in 2023 by the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin received a new status - the international economic event of the federal level. Matviyenko believes that the format has every reason to justify this status, to reach a new qualitative level and become even more successful. "Russia has invaluable experience of cooperation with the Islamic world. Islam has long been practiced by a large part of the population of the country, as well as many CIS countries with which we share a common history", she stressed.
The senator paid special attention to the extensive agenda of the forum - from finance and logistics to innovations, tourism and medicine, and the rich business program. Valentina Matviyenko expressed confidence that the results of the forum, as well as its practical achievements "will be the basis for strengthening cooperation in all spheres and serve to further promote the dynamic development of relations between Russia and the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation."
