The ongoing BRICS summit in Kazan has already been hailed as a diplomatic victory for Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to the newspaper Le Pays.
“With 32 delegations, including 20 heads of state, and the UN Secretary-General António Guterres present, hosting such a high-level meeting in his country undoubtedly represents a significant diplomatic victory for Vladimir Putin,” the newspaper points out. “This is happening despite the Western media frenzy, sanctions imposed on his country, and efforts by the West to isolate Moscow on the global stage.”
The article highlights that the summit provides Putin with an opportunity to broaden his circle of allies. “His adversaries have failed to tarnish his reputation. The summit allows him to reinforce Russia’s standing within this economic bloc, which is steadfast in its pursuit of a more equitable global order. This is particularly crucial now as Moscow stands in opposition to the Western coalition supporting Kyiv in the Ukraine conflict.”
The publication also notes that the Kazan summit serves as evidence of a rapidly shifting world order. With numerous countries eager to join BRICS, the organization is proving to be both resilient and increasingly attractive. The bloc is emerging as a significant force in a multipolar world and a counterbalance to the Western bloc, offering an alternative to US-led Western dominance.
