03 August 2020

Sharbel Wehbe is appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lebanon, Al Mayadeen TV channel reports.

According to it, the corresponding order was signed by President Michel Aoun and Prime Minister Hassan Diab.

"The President [Michel Aoun] and the head of government [Hassan Diab] signed two decrees accepting the resignation of Foreign Minister Nassif Hitti and appointing Sharbel Wehbe in his place," the TV channel said.

Earlier on Monday, Hitti left the post of Foreign Minister of Lebanon. He explained his resignation to the government's lack of "firm will to implement the reforms demanded by the Lebanese and the international community."
