Three Israeli women, released on January 19 after spending 470 days in Gaza, were given parting “gift bags” by members of the Palestinian Hamas movement, reports Ynet.
According to the portal, the paper bags, adorned with symbols of Hamas's military wing, contained “souvenirs and keepsakes,” including postcards featuring views of Gaza. Additionally, the women were handed “certificates of release,” which were also included in the “gift package.”
Ynet illustrated its report with video footage from Palestinian sources showing the women boarding a vehicle to leave Gaza. In the video, they are seen receiving the souvenirs and certificates, briefly posing with polite smiles for the camera.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the women's release and reiterated the government’s commitment to securing the freedom of all remaining hostages in Gaza.
The freed women, Romi Gonen (24), Emily Damari (28), and Doron Steinbrecher (31), were greeted by Israeli military personnel and reunited with their families upon arrival in Israel. Afterward, they were transported to central Israeli hospitals for medical evaluations and treatment.
