At least 360,000 cases of various infectious diseases have been reported in refugee camps in the Gaza Strip, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health cited by Al Jazeera.
The camps are overcrowded due to the Israeli military operation, with approximately 1.9 million people currently residing in them. The World Health Organization (WHO) has documented cases of meningitis, chickenpox, jaundice, and upper respiratory tract infections.
Al Jazeera reports that only 11 out of 36 hospitals in the Gaza Strip are partially operational and receiving patients on a limited basis.
WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the health system in Gaza is collapsing, creating ideal conditions for the spread of diseases, with expectations of the situation worsening. He highlighted the dire living conditions, including minimal access to showers and toilets, exacerbating the health crisis in the region.
