The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are conducting intense bombardments on the western and central neighborhoods of Rafah, situated in the southern region of the Gaza Strip.
As per the Al Mayadeen TV channel, the Israeli military is targeting residential buildings near the United Arab Emirates Hospital and its surrounding medical structures. Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are targeting Palestinian resistance fighters and civilians in the streets.
Reports also indicate heavy artillery shelling in the city's central areas.
During the night of Monday, May 27, Israel launched an airstrike on Rafah, resulting in at least eight rockets striking a tent camp adjacent to a warehouse belonging to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. The attack ignited a fire within the tent city. According to recent updates, the raid killed at least 40 individuals, predominantly women and children. The IDF Press Service has announced the launch of an investigation by the Fact-Finding Apparatus of the IDF General Staff to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the civilian casualties.
