Media Reports Ceasefire Talks Between Israel and Hamas Nearly Stalled

17 April

Negotiations regarding a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas are reportedly "nearly stalled" following the Israeli attack on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, as per NBC, citing an Arab diplomat.

According to the diplomat, the discussions have reached a standstill due to escalating tensions with Iran, which have taken precedence in Israeli political discourse.

On April 13, Iran retaliated against Israel, launching drones and missiles in response to "numerous crimes," including an attack attributed to Israel on the consular section of Iran's embassy in Damascus. Iranian state media claimed that military targets were the focus of the strikes on Israel. The Israel Defense Forces stated they intercepted 99% of approximately 350 Iranian projectiles heading towards the country, causing minor damage to the Nevatim air base.
