Saudi Arabia's armed forces and air defense systems have been placed on high alert following clashes with Yemeni rebels from from Ansar Allah (Houthis). Bloomberg agency reported that this order was issued to all of the kingdom's military units after rebels attempted to launch a missile strike on Saudi territory a few weeks ago, which was successfully intercepted by air defense systems. The death of four Saudi soldiers in clashes with rebels near the southern province of Jizan on the Yemeni border further contributed to the deployment of armed forces.
These clashes initially began when rebels fired cruise missiles and drones toward Israel on October 19, but these were intercepted by a US destroyer in the Red Sea, according to the Pentagon. Bloomberg also noted that Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khaled bin Salman Al Saud is scheduled to meet with senior officials from the Biden administration in Washington on October 30 to discuss the implications of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, as well as the situation in Yemen.
It's important to mention that the Saudi government and Houthis representatives did not respond to Bloomberg's request for comment.
