About the elections
The presidential and parliamentary elections were held in Turkey on May 14. In the first round, Erdogan won 49.51% of the vote, while his main opponent, Kilicdaroglu, got 44.88%. The candidate needed more than 50% of votes to win in the first round, so there will be another round of voting on May 28. A simple majority is sufficient to win it.
In the parliamentary elections, the AKP won 323 of the 600 seats in the legislature.
