Turkmenistan places significant importance on fostering cooperation with the CIS countries. This announcement was made by Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov during a Cabinet meeting, as reported by the official newspaper Neytralny Turkmenistan.
Meredov briefed Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the preparations for the upcoming meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government, scheduled for May 24 in Ashgabat. He mentioned that an information briefing is planned to be held at the Turkmen Foreign Ministry on May 20, followed by a working meeting in Ashgabat on May 23.
President Berdimuhamedov emphasized Turkmenistan's close cooperation with the CIS and its active participation in the Union as an associate member. He instructed the Foreign Minister to ensure a high level of organization for the upcoming meeting.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS member states is scheduled for May 24 in Ashgabat. The previous meeting took place in late October 2023 in Bishkek and was attended by the heads of government of Russia, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, deputy prime ministers of Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the Eurasian Economic Union and the CIS Executive Committee.
