Britain and the United States have carried out airstrikes on targets in the Yemeni province of al-Hodeidah, which is controlled by the Houthi rebel movement "Ansar Allah," according to Al Masirah TV, which is affiliated with the Houthis.
The report indicates that the Al-Salif area was targeted, but there is no information yet about casualties or damage.
Earlier, Houthi leader Abdel Malek al-Hothi claimed that the US conducted at least ten airstrikes on Yemeni territory this week, including eight in al-Hodeidah. He also stated that British-American bombings since January 2024 have killed 73 individuals.
Following the recent escalation in Gaza, the Houthis warned they would attack Israeli territory and block ships affiliated with Israel from passing through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait until the situation in Gaza is resolved. They also threatened to strike ships bound for Israeli ports in the Mediterranean.
In response, the US announced the formation of an international coalition and the launch of Operation Prosperity Guardian to ensure freedom of navigation and protect shipping in the Red Sea. As a result, British and American forces have begun regular strikes on Houthi military facilities across Yemen.
