Media: Water Crisis Worsens in Gaza Strip

19 August

The water crisis in the southern Gaza Strip is worsening as the Israeli military continues to destroy wells, water tanks, pumping stations, and pipeline networks, the Qatari TV channel Al Jazeera reports.

According to the channel's report from Khan Younis, a town in the southern part of the enclave, four of the town's five main water reservoirs have been destroyed due to Israel's nearly 11-month-long military actions against Gaza. The destruction of wells, reservoirs, and pipeline networks has left the local population with severely limited access to water.

The situation in the Middle East has sharply escalated since October 7, 2023, following an attack by Hamas fighters from the Gaza Strip on Israeli territory. In response, Israel launched a military operation in Gaza aimed at dismantling the military and political infrastructure of the Hamas movement and securing the release of all hostages.
