Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev congratulated Muslims of Russia on the occasion of Id al-Fitr, noting the contribution of the Russian Ummah to countering intolerance and extremism. The corresponding telegram was posted on the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.

“Russian Ummah is doing a lot of constructive work that deserves sincere respect and gratitude. Muslim community pays serious attention to educational activities, participates in charity actions, and helps everyone who especially needs support,” Medvedev said. “And of course, it makes a significant contribution to countering extremist ideology and intolerance, and it does a lot to strengthen inter-ethnic peace and harmony in our country.”

Russian Prime Minister also added that Id al-Fitr symbolizes spiritual cleansing, reminds of mercy and kindness, from time immemorial serving as the foundation for the Muslim community.

“I wish all Muslims of Russia good health, well-being and bright holidays,” the Prime Minister wrote in a telegram sent to the leaders of the country's Muslim organizations.
