Western states are trying to isolate Russia and lead it to economic collapse, but these desires are not destined to come true, Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Russian Security Council, wrote on social media Friday on the occasion of the structure's 30th anniversary.
"The hostile policy of Western countries toward our country has obvious goals - to isolate Russia, block any channels of its cooperation with other states, lead us to economic collapse. These plans are not destined to come true," he stressed.
Medvedev drew attention to the fact that in today's situation every effort should be made to ensure the stable development of Russia's economy, the well-being and security of its citizens. "The role of the Security Council in this large-scale work is difficult to overestimate," he added.
As the deputy chairman of the Security Council noted, the activities of the Security Council, which was established by presidential decree on June 3, 1992, "were of particular importance for the all-round development and strengthening of the country, the protection of its national interests" at every stage of the history of the new Russia.
"Over three decades, the Russian Security Council has made a significant contribution to the creation of a modern security architecture. Today, in an extremely complex and controversial time, its activities have become particularly important because of the fundamental threats that require a rapid response. And even more importantly, to work to pre-empt them," Medvedev stressed.
