MFA: more than 25 thousand Russians declared their desire to return from abroad

10 April 2020

About 25.5 thousand Russians expressed their desire to return home from abroad, the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Zakharova told a briefing.

"We have received information about 25.5 thousand citizens who have submitted such applications, and more than 24 thousand have already been processed. Perhaps even in the last hour, the number has changed," the diplomat said.

On March 27, Russia stopped regular and charter flights with other countries against the background of the coronavirus pandemic. The only exceptions are aircraft that take Russian citizens from abroad, foreign citizens abroad, as well as cargo, postal, sanitary and humanitarian flights.

Since March 31, Russia has reduced the number of export flights, and also set restrictions on the number of arriving passengers - no more than 500 people per day in Sheremetyevo, or to airports in other regions of the Russian Federation - no more than 200 people per day.
