Russia supports the restoration of the territorial integrity of Syria through the transfer of all national territories to Damascus, including the border zone with Turkey, the Official Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told the briefing.
"We are convinced that the achievement of sustainable, long-term stabilization and security in this Syrian area, in the country and in the region as a whole is possible only based on the restoration of its sovereignty and territorial integrity. This means to ultimately transfer all national territories under the control of the legitimate government of Syria, including the border with Turkey, " she said, in particular.
Zakharova also noted the importance of the early launching of the Syrian Constitutional Committee.
"We consider the launch of the Constitutional Committee, the establishment of its fruitful work an extremely important step that will allow launching a direct dialogue between Syrians, in particular, will give them the opportunity to discuss in detail the future of their country, as it was decided by the participants of the Congress of the Syrian national dialogue in Sochi," she added.
The first meeting of the Committee will be held in Geneva on October 29.
