MFA: Russia is ready to resume flights to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh

10 October 2019

Russia hopes that flights to Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh airports will resume soon, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin told Izvestia newspaper.

Now the most important thing for Moscow, according to the diplomat, is to ensure the safety of its citizens, and therefore a specially created commission carefully checks Egyptian airports for security.

At the same time, all the prerequisites for the resumption of flights to the once-popular Egyptian resorts among Russians, as Vershinin noted, exist, and a decision on this can be made in the near future.

Earlier Russia resumed flights to Cairo.

Russian airlines stopped operating in Egypt after a terrorist attack in the sky over the Sinai Peninsula in October 2015, resulting in the death of 224 people.
