MFA: Russia temporarily restricts the entry of foreign citizens

In order to ensure the security of the state, protect public health and non-proliferation of a new coronavirus infection on the territory of Russia, the government of the country has decided to temporarily restrict the entry of foreign citizens and stateless persons from March 18 to May 1. This is stated in a message published on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.


The restriction, as noted, will not affect only accredited or designated employees of diplomatic missions and consular offices and international organizations, drivers of international road, sea, and railway vehicles, as well as persons in transit through air checkpoints.


"In this regard, the diplomatic missions and consular offices of the Russian Federation temporarily suspend the reception of documents, registration and issuance of all categories of visas, with the exception of visas to the above-mentioned persons. In addition, visa processing in the form of an electronic document is suspended", the statement reads.


These measures are "due to special circumstances and are only temporary".
