Middle East Quartet of international mediators discussed the Palestinian-Israeli settlement

Special representatives of the Middle East Quartet of international mediators (Russia, the United States, the EU, and the UN) held a teleconference. On the Russian side the meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.


During the teleconference, according to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the current unsatisfactory state of affairs in the Palestinian-Israeli settlement, as well as the tasks of containing the COVID-19 pandemic, were considered. The general opinion on the importance of activating the work of the Quartet was expressed.


"The Russian side reaffirmed its unwavering position in favor of a two-state solution to the conflict on a well - known international legal basis, and noted the need to restore Palestinian national unity on the political platform of the Palestine Liberation Organization", the statement reads.
