The annual meeting of the Valdai international discussion club started today in Sochi. This year, the central topic of discussion will be the recent years changes of the Middle and Far East countries role in the global arena and Russia's relations with these regions.
The meeting will be attended by more than 140 experts from 40 countries.
Among the foreign guests of the meeting are the Secretary General of OPEC Mohammed Barkindo, Deputy Foreign Minister of Egypt Mohamed El-Badri, Deputy Chairperson of the National People's Congress Foreign Affairs Committee of China Fu Ying, former Afghan President Hamid Karzai, etc.
On the final day of the meeting, October 3, Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend a plenary session. The session will be attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, King Abdullah II of Jordan, Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Before the plenary session, the Russian leader will hold bilateral meetings with the heads of state.
