"The militants of terrorist organizations are firing at the positions of the government forces of the Syrian Arab Republic, making attempts to attack the Russian air base using unmanned aerial vehicles and multiple rocket systems of increased range. Groups of the Russian armed forces in Syria and the Syrian armed forces are forced to carry out measures to neutralize the terrorist threat, " the report says.
"In accordance with the agreements we have concluded, we reserve the right to take retaliatory measures against militants of terrorist groups whose actions may pose a threat to the lives of Russian and Syrian military personnel, as well as civilians in areas adjacent to the de - escalation zone," Shcherbitsky said.
According to him, the command of the Russian armed forces group in Syria and the Syrian armed forces are forced to carry out measures to neutralize the terrorist threat.
Escalation of the situation
The situation is escalating in areas of Deir ez-Zor province that are not under the control of the Syrian government, where a number of tribes have opposed US-backed armed groups, Shcherbitsky said.
"There is an aggravation of the situation in the areas of Deir ez-Zor province that are not under the control of the government of the Syrian Arab Republic. A number of localities on the Eastern Bank of the Euphrates river have been taken under control by Arab tribal militia units that opposed US-backed armed formations and authorities," he said.
He stressed that "the main reason for the protest actions of the local population is the difficult socio-economic situation in the areas occupied by the US armed forces and controlled by their formations."
According to the head of the Center, the illegal presence of the US military in the Trans-Euphrates region also serves as a major factor of socio-political instability in the region.
"The illegal presence of the US military contingent in the Syrian Trans-Euphrates region is the main factor of social and political instability, hinders the development of dialogue between the various parties to the Syrian conflict and the restoration of peaceful life," said Shcherbitsky.
According to him, the Russian Federation and the Syrian government are ready to jointly take all necessary measures to normalize the situation in the region, resume national dialogue, and ensure the safety and well-being of the region's residents.
South of the Idlib de-escalation zone
A tense situation is also developing in the South of the Idlib de-escalation zone, but due to the inability of the Turkish side to create a security corridor, the next joint Russian-Turkish patrol is postponed.
"The situation is tense in the South of the Idlib de-escalation zone. The Turkish command is taking certain measures to destroy the gangs along the M4 highway. But at the same time, the Turkish side is not able to ensure the creation of a "security corridor". In this regard, the next joint Russian-Turkish patrol is constantly postponed, " Shcherbitsky said.
He added that the Russian military expects the Turkish side to strengthen measures aimed at destroying terrorists, ensuring the security of joint patrols and implementing the provisions of the Russian-Turkish Memorandum of March 6, 2020.
