A regular round of bilateral consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Russia and Oman will be held in Masqat in the nearest future. The Chairman of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko reported about a meeting with the head of the State Council (Upper House of Parliament) of Oman Yahya bin Mahfouz al-Manzeri.

«We are satisfied with the way the mechanism of bilateral consultations between the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for the Middle East and African countries, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov and Secretary General of the Foreign Ministry of the Sultanate Badr al-Busaidi works. The timing of such consultations in Masqat is now being agreed», she noted, in particular.

Matvienko reminded that last February, «very constructive negotiations» took place between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Omani colleague Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, and also noted the solidarity of Russia and Oman in approaches to resolving the crisis situations remaining for the Middle East by «political means, on the basis of a broad national dialogue, in strict accordance with the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter».
