Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation: Iran does not deviate from the permissible parameters of a nuclear deal

21 May 2019

Iran, which announced in early May that it was suspending the fulfillment of a number of obligations under a nuclear transaction, does not currently deviate from the permissible parameters of the document.

Member of the Board of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control of the Russian Foreign Ministry, and Russia's Permanent Representative to International Organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov stated it in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Earlier, Tehran has warned the IAEA to increase the production of low-enriched uranium four times. “According to Comprehensive Plan of Action, Iran has the right to have enriched uranium reserves in the amount of 300 kilograms and heavy water in the amount of 130 tons. Neither uranium nor heavy water Iran to these values is not close.

So even those who are critical of Tehran’s policy for some reason are unable to make any claims and it’s characteristic that the IAEA does not speak out on this topic publicly because it doesn’t see the subject, there are no deviations for today”, the Russian Diplomat mentioned.

According to Ulyanov, Iranians "are very responsible in fulfilling their obligations, and it is mainly thanks to them that the deal continues to exist".
