22 April 2019

The situation in the Syrian refugee camps “Al-Hol” and “Rukban”, located in US-controlled territories are still catastrophic. It was stated at a joint meeting of the interdepartmental headquarters of Russia and Syria for the return of refugees, by the Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Igor Tsarikov.

“Despite the overall positive dynamics, a catastrophic situation persists in some areas. Al-Hol camp in Al-Hasakah province is overcrowded - the total number of refugees living in its territory exceeds 73 thousand. At the same time, according to the UN, there is an acute shortage of water and food, medical personnel, medicines and equipment in the camp”, he noted, in particular.

According to Tsarikov, the United States, which controls the camps, "is showing an inability to respond adequately to the current plight of Syrian citizens."
