Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Russia does not intend to contact the «Taliban»

Contacts of the Russian side with representatives of the Afghan radical movement "Taliban"* are not planned yet. On this, answering the question whether contacts with the Taliban are planned after their last round of talks with the United States in Doha, said the special representative of the Russian President for Afghanistan, head of the second department of Asia at the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov.

 

 

“No, there is no need for this so far,” quotes, in particular, the diplomat RIA Novosti.

 

 

According to Kabulov, a meeting with the USA on Afghanistan is planned for the near future. Most likely, there will be a meeting of the Russian side with US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad.
