Foreign states' restrictions on air traffic with Russia are primarily connected with bans on flights by Russian airlines with "double registration": when an aircraft is "registered" both in a foreign register and in a domestic one, the Russian ministry of transport reports. In the near future, the ministry plans to negotiate with Turkey on banning the Russian planes with "double registration" to fly over its territory. Earlier, the introduction of such a ban from November 1 was reported by RBK with reference to the general director of Pegas Touristik Anna Podgornaya.
"Negotiations with the Turkish aviation authorities on this issue are planned in the near future," the ministry said in a statement. - "We emphasize that the restriction of air communication of Russia with foreign countries is mainly connected with the ban of flights of Russian airlines with the so-called "double registration". The ministry of transport and Rosaviatsiya are constantly working with the aviation administrations of foreign countries to obtain guarantees against the arrest or detention of our aircraft at the request of third countries."
According to Podgornaya, the ban mainly affected flights to Egypt, the duration of which increased by 20-30 minutes, and it did not affect the cost.
"To eliminate the violation of the Chicago Convention, Bermuda needs to remove aircraft registered and operated in the Russian Federation from its register. Russian carriers have sent corresponding requests to Bermuda aviation authorities. And the delay of de-registration of aircraft by the Bermuda Aircraft Registry is a gross violation of the Chicago Convention. The situation today is that unfriendly countries accuse us of creating "double registration" and do not notice that they themselves are violating the basic principles of the Chicago Convention," added in the Russian ministry of transport.
