During his visit to Kuala Lumpur, Rustam Minnikhanov, Rais of Tatarstan, met with Malaysia’s King, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, in a courtesy visit.
In his address to the King, Minnikhanov emphasized the strong bonds of friendship, respect, and trust between Russia and Malaysia. "It is crucial that both countries continue to deepen their cooperation," he stated.
The discussion focused on the potential for joint investment projects across various sectors, including machinery, construction, agriculture, and IT. The International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum" was highlighted as an excellent platform for fostering connections. The Malaysian delegation has participated in this event annually, and in 2024, it was notably represented at the ministerial level for higher education and agriculture.
Minnikhanov also stressed the role of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia – Islamic World," which he leads on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, in enhancing relations and business ties.
Additionally, the meeting touched on Malaysia’s interest in joining BRICS. The XVI BRICS Summit is set to take place in Kazan from October 22 to 24, 2024.
