Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov during his annual address to the State Council of the Republic noted the active work of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World". It becomes especially relevant in the current geopolitical conditions.

"International and foreign economic activities need adaptation to the changed conditions and formats of cooperation. The task is to form a new geography of interaction in promising directions. For many years, Tatarstan pays special attention to the development of multilateral relations with the countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The status of OIC Youth Capital obtained by Kazan this year has opened up new possibilities to involve young people in the international dialogue. It is important to use this potential," the president said.

The Republic of Tatarstan also works actively within the format of the Group Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic world". Last summer Kazan hosted the thirteenth KazanSummit international economic summit attended by over 6,500 delegates from 64 countries and 59 Russian regions. Russian President Vladimir Putin praised the level of the event and supported granting it federal status.

"It is a high trust and great responsibility. Along with St. Petersburg and Eastern Economic Forums, Kazan becomes one more large platform for securing economic interests of Russia in the framework of equal and mutually beneficial international cooperation," stressed the president of Tatarstan.

The head of the republic also touched upon the work on the development of the institute of Islamic finance.

"Today, in the conditions of limited access to financial resources, the development of the institute of Islamic finance is an important direction for us. At the moment, at the federal level the formation of the legislative framework is being completed. Tatarstan is among the pilot regions. The use of new instruments expands the economy's possibilities to attract financial resources. We need to use them to the maximum," concluded Rustam Minnikhanov.

During his address, the president of the Republic of Tatarstan also declared 2023 the Year of National Cultures and Traditions. The president reminded that the year 2022 marks the 1,100th anniversary of adoption of Islam, which is celebrated on the federal level upon instructions of President of Russia Vladimir Putin.

"Many milestone projects are being implemented. Events are attended by a large number of guests, including foreign ones. All this is evidence of the increased interest of the Muslim world in the development of mutually beneficial cooperation with the Russian Federation. We are grateful for the full support of the Government of the Russian Federation headed by Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee Marat Shakirzyanovich Khusnullin and leaders of Muslim religious associations of the country in preparing and holding the anniversary", stressed Minnikhanov.

"Respectful dialogue between representatives of all peoples of the big Tatarstan family, care for the preservation and development of languages, culture, and traditions is our invaluable asset. The peoples populating Tatarstan possess the richest historical and cultural heritage. Taking into account the importance of preserving and strengthening spiritual values and reviving original national traditions, as well as continuing the Year of Cultural Heritage of Peoples of Russia, I declare 2023 the Year of National Cultures and Traditions in the republic," added the president of Tatarstan.
