Mirziyoyev Proposes Simplified Entry to Uzbekistan for EAEU Citizens

26 December 2024

Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has proposed allowing citizens of Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states to enter Uzbekistan using internal documents.

“To encourage tourism exchanges, we intend to introduce a system permitting citizens of EAEU member states to enter our country with internal documents,” Mirziyoyev stated during a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

Uzbekistan is actively enhancing its tourism sector. In December, the government announced plans to launch a unified tourism platform by fall 2025. This platform will enable tourists to book hotels, access services from tour operators and guides, arrange transportation, purchase tickets for various modes of travel, and pay for services using international and national payment systems.

According to Uzbekistan's statistics agency, 7.3 million tourists visited the country in 2024, including 741,200 Russian citizens.

Mirziyoyev also participated in an informal meeting of leaders from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries in St. Petersburg recently.
