The Russian government has instructed Roscosmos and the Foreign Ministry to sign an agreement with the UAE on cooperation in the exploration and use of outer space, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said in an order published on the official Internet portal of legal information.

"To instruct the state corporation for space activities Roscosmos together with the Russian Foreign Ministry to hold negotiations with the Emirati side and upon reaching an agreement to sign on behalf of the Russian government the said agreement," the document reads.

The agreement itself provides for cooperation in space science and space exploration, communications, remote sensing, satellite navigation, manned space programs and others.

In 2019, Russia helped the UAE send the first Emirati cosmonaut Hazzaa al-Mansouri into space.
