CIS countries are united by a common history and traditions, they are united both by a civilization code and a similar view on modern problems, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said, speaking Friday at a meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in a narrow format.

"Our interaction is not limited to economic topics. The peoples of the CIS - and it is almost 300 million citizens - are also linked by common history and common traditions. We have a common civilization code and similar views on many problems of our time," stressed the head of the Russian cabinet.

That is why Russia considers it important to expand the intercultural dialogue in the Commonwealth. Mishustin reminded that the next year has been announced as the year of the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication in the CIS. "I am absolutely sure that such an initiative will allow us to become closer and form a common economic and humanitarian space in Eurasia, which will ensure security for all who live on this huge mega-continent," the Russian prime minister pointed out.

In conclusion, he thanked his colleagues from Kazakhstan for their active and fruitful chairmanship of the CIS and wished the representatives of Kyrgyzstan, which will take over the chairmanship, success in this field next year.
