Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin will pay a two-day visit to Almaty to take part in a meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental council and a digital forum "Digital Almaty 2023: Digital Partnership in a New Reality". This was reported by the press service of the Russian government.

Bilateral meetings of Mishustin with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko and Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov are scheduled as well.

Agenda of the meeting of the Intergovernmental council

According to the Russian cabinet of ministers, the leaders of delegations of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will discuss topical issues of Eurasian integration, including the functioning of the EEU internal market, the funding of industrial cooperation, single markets, the development of the agricultural sector, technical regulation and cooperation in the energy sector.

One of the key subjects of the agenda will be a report of the Eurasian development bank and the Eurasian fund for stabilization and development. In addition, a report on the macroeconomic situation in the EEU countries is expected. Another topic will include the operation of the EEU common electricity market and approval of the rules of access to interstate electricity transmission services.

"Particular attention will be paid to the preparation of new draft agreements within the framework of the Union - an international treaty on the formation of a common gas market and an agreement on the regulation of the alcohol market," the Russian cabinet of ministers noted.

The prime ministers will report on the implementation of a joint project of the EEU countries on the implementation of rapid rail transportation of agricultural products "Eurasian Agro-Express" and the possibility of including new members into the project. The digital agenda will also be discussed: the delegations will discuss the formation of an integrated information system (IIS) of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Participants of the meeting

The EEU includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirghizia and Russia. Cuba, Moldova and Uzbekistan have the status of observers in the association.

Current meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental council will be the first this year and, accordingly, the first within the framework of Russia's chairmanship in the union bodies in 2023. The previous meeting of the EEU prime ministers was held in Yerevan in October 2022.

According to the foreign ministry of Kazakhstan, the meeting in Almaty will be attended by the heads of the cabinets of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as the chairman of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
