Russia and Uzbekistan set a record in the volume of trade turnover in 10 months of 2022. Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said this during talks with his Uzbek counterpart Abdulla Aripov on Friday.
"It is important that, despite the difficult situation in world trade, our trade and economic cooperation is constantly strengthening, developing and covering new areas," said the chairman of the Russian government. He noted that following the results of 2021, Russia became Uzbekistan's main trade partner and the mutual turnover grew by 17%. According to his data, "in January-October there was an increase [of trade turnover] by more than 30%." "That is, in 10 months we have a record," Mishustin stated. He is confident that the countries will soon meet their goal of bringing trade turnover to $10 billion.
According to the Russian prime minister, Moscow and Tashkent have good prospects for deepening cooperation in industry, agriculture, energy and transport.
"We in Russia sincerely value our good-neighborly, partnership and allied relations with Uzbekistan. They are based on historical traditions of friendship and mutual respect of our fraternal peoples," the chairman of the Russian government said. "We want to fill our interaction with new content," he stressed. Mishustin thanked the Uzbek leadership "for their attentive attitude to the Russian language," drawing attention to the active promotion of projects to improve the quality of Russian language teaching in Uzbek schools with the participation of Russian specialists based on modern technologies.
The Russian prime minister asked Aripov to pass on "the best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin [to Uzbek President] Shavkat Mirziyoyev." He thanked his Uzbek colleagues for their warm welcome during this first visit to Uzbekistan as Russian prime minister.
