Monument to Yevgeny Primakov to be installed near Russian MFA

Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin will unveil a monument to the famous Soviet and Russian diplomat, Orientalist and Arabist Yevgeny Primakov. The monument will be installed in front of the building of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.


Commenting on the upcoming event, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Putin has always listened to the opinion of Primakov.


"Of course, the President will give a speech. They knew each other well. Putin  always listened to Primakov's point of view, to his views on international affairs, on internal affairs. And I always appreciated his merits to our country, and it is difficult to overestimate, " Peskov said, in particular.


Primakov was one of the leading Russian Orientalists, a specialist in the field of the world economy and international relations. In different years, he headed the Foreign Ministry and the Russian government. Today, October 29, would have been his 90 birthday.
